Journal #10
Assignment 5 was something relatively familiar to me as I had created a jeopardy game in a previous class just not through PowerPoint. One thing I learned was how to add sound to transitions, this is something that wasn't working for me at first. This was a bit frustrating but after a bunch of tries, I finally got it to work. Overall I am happy with the results and honestly want to use it for students in a future class of mine.
I think collaboration is one of the most important aspects of learning, and while it may be more challenging for online courses to engage in this, it is still very possible. For example, many of my online courses have some sort of weekly discussions, which allows students to learn from each other and give feedback on answers. This is something I will do in every class but I will emphasize it in any online course I teach. As for group projects, I will be sure to grade the students separately as I know there are some students who do not do their part or don't try very hard. I think it's unfair for other students to suffer because of a bad groupmate, so I will make sure students make note of who does what parts.
A technological skill I would like to learn next is using spreadsheets for data entry. This is something that I will likely use in my future schooling and career so I would like to get a good idea of how to do it now. I can achieve this goal by watching videos on how to set up pleasing and useful spreadsheets, how to collect and enter data, and how to share and print spreadsheets. These are all skills I forsee myself utilizing and I want to achieve mastery sooner rather than later.
